In light of the George Floyd murder, brands around the world are looking for appropriate and relevant ways to signal where they stand with regard to the issues of systemic racism and injustice. Frankly, racism and injustice are just part of the societal issues brands are challenged to face.

In a brief presentation video, Marcus Thomas’ Chief Diversity Officer Joanne Kim and Partner, Social Media, Amber Zent, offer valuable counsel on how brands can take a stand on societal issues and build deeper relationships with their audiences.

In this presentation, Kim and Zent discuss:

  • Why brands aren’t speaking out
  • And, for those that do, why have some struggled and others succeeded
  • Finally, some thoughts on how your brand can best take a stand and ensure your communication is received as intended

As you explore ways to make a statement that clearly signals what your brand stands for around the issues of systemic racism and injustice in our country, we hope this presentation offers helpful guidance to that end. You can access this informative video here.
